“2.03 Maintaining Competence
Psychologists undertake ongoing efforts to develop and maintain their competence”
For some reason I thought the APA ethics Code was more “wordy” about CE credits. But what more do you have to say? Actually, it doesn’t make much sense to pay for CE credits if you don’t have to pay for CE credits. So all of you psychologists and other mental health professionals in states where you don’t have a required amount or type of continuing education to maintain your licensure, feel free to brag while reading courses for free on our site to “maintain competence” after we launch this fall (you’d only pay for the CE credits if you needed them). You of course would have to pay for a live workshop if you went to one or a book unless you got it from the library (I recommend inter-library loan if you’re not sure about the book, it still exists).

I’ve made some additions to the CE directory after a long lapse where I haven’t been updating despite public request, sorry, I have 3 presentations to give in the next month so it took being really busy to find needing something else to do for procrastination’s sake
With that being said I’m exploring the possibility of sponsoring some live, in-person continuing education workshops in about one year and moving toward sponsoring some distance education on this site as well, though it would likely not be until at least next year (though I am currently playing with some course management software).

So, now if you register and then go to site admin on the bottom right corner of the blog you can post your own course reviews of mental health related continuing education courses (preferably online or independent study courses) and then they will be tweeted on twitter through DrFinnerty’s twitter account- assuming people don’t start abusing it
so who will be the first to give it a shot?
Feel free to follow DrFinnerty on twitter as well: http://twitter.com/DrFinnerty
By the way, the first edition of my book on depressive personality disorder is available for review 9and for sale on Amazon), take a look at http://www.depressivepersonality.com
http://www.PsychContuingEd.com is an online directory of (primarily) APA accredited continuing education providers for Psychologists and other mental health professionals.

Feel free to add a post about a course you’ve taken. After you register your email address you’ll get your password. Yo0u can then log in and tell us what you think
Be sure to check any appropriate categories to make the post easier to find (you could also “Tag” it to). Put it in a category named after the course provider that you took your CE course from (or choose “other” if its not listed), you could also add it to a category like “ethics” as well if that is applicable.

More coming soon, however in the meantime feel free to write a post about your experiences with an independent study course for continuing education (in psychology or mental health). Feel free to include a “tag” related to the course provider’s name so others can find it more easily. You could also include “tags” realted to the subject matter (ex: ethics), or place it inside a relevant category.
Thanks for visiting, check back soon as more developments are under way at http://www.PsychContinuingEd.com
